On Friday 1st July, a group of children from years 5 and 6 travelled to Westminster Academy to take part in the Westminster World Cup, a football tournament for primary schools in the surrounding area. The girls played under the name of Morocco, the boys under the name of England….we were slightly worried that this may have been a bad omen for the boys, however we need not have been concerned, they destroyed every team in sight and emerged victorious to win the tournament! The girls also put on a fantastic display, beating all teams except one, who they then faced again in the final and only lost out to because of a lucky goal in the dying seconds of the game. Our leading female striker scored 9 goals and our leading male striker scored 11 goals, overall we scored 32 goals throughout the tournament. We are extremely proud of both teams and are thrilled that they will be receiving a trophy sometime over the next week.
