On Tuesday Book Start came to The Nursery. The children heard the story of ‘Max the Brave and then their parents were invited to a workshop where they made a puppet of ‘Max’ to help them tell the story to their child. The children also received a copy of the book to share at home.
Some of the parent’s comments are:
‘The story was explained very well to the children and they could understand it.
It was funny for them. Very professional staff. I really enjoyed it.’
‘I learned that talking more to my children is so important. I also learned how to read the story using different sounds and gestures.’
‘It is important to spend time with children. For example when fathers read books with their boys, the boys will probably understand and learn faster.’
The family learning team who organised this workshop often run other workshops both in school and other venues for parents and children.
