On Wednesday Year 4 experienced an unmissable opportunity to come face to face with the Painted Hall ceiling.
Painted between 1707 and 1726, the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College hides many surprises. After our safety briefing, we put on hard hats and high-vis tabards and ascended 60ft to the observation deck to marvel at the painted ceiling up close. Once on the observation deck, we became investigators, using torches to uncover the secret messages in the paintings, learning more about how the paintings were made and discovering how conservation will protect our past for the future.
Before leaving we also enjoyed a game of skittles!
We had a fabulous day and loved learning about the Painted Hall ceiling.
